Transdermal gels or creams can deliver fast acting relief
for muscle and joint pain, using penetrating agents such
as pluronic lecithin organogel (PLO). These everyday agents
enable medical practitioners to provide high local concentrations
of active ingredients at the site of pain, treat myofascial
pain trigger points, or to deliver systemic levels using
a lower dose. Because the medications are absorbed transdermally,
most of the potentially harmful GI side-effects associated
with oral dosing can be avoided. -
